The Stirred Martini (Nolet’s gin, dry vermouth, 1888 hand-pressed olive juice); Old Fashioned (Maker’s Mark bourbon, Angostura bitters, Luxardo maraschino cherry, fresh orange wedge); and Hanky Panky (Nolet’s gin, Fernet-Branca, sweet vermouth) arrive at the table with ingredients, glassware and garnishes served to order. The “dinner and a show” cocktails, available for a limited time, are $12 each.

Spice up your Valentine‘s Day dinner date with Cantina Laredo‘s modern Mexican cuisine. The River North restaurant will offer a three course, $35 prix fixe menu from Friday, February 9 to Wednesday, February 14. Chef Cruz Almanza’s selections (outlined below) include mango salad, chicken and vegetable soup, sautéed shrimp with spicy mango mole, roasted half chicken, peppercorn filet mignon, mixed berries with tequila cream, and churros with a duo of dipping sauces. Cocktail pairings may be added for an additional $15.

​​Bites Asian Kitchen and Bar, located on Clark Street in the heart of Wrigleyville, has unveiled new hours that include late night dining. Chef Derek Intapura will offer a special “Bites At Night” Asian fusion menu featuring small bites (fried silkworms; taro fries; salmon ceviche; emerald gyoza; wings with sticky rice; duck leg; basil cream mussels), handhelds (Mongolian beef burger; fried lane snapper with gren mango slaw), sliders (beef teriyaki; sloppy joe; soft shell crab), bao buns (BBQ pork; roast duck; avocado tempura), big bites (fish and chips; Singapore noodles), fried rice (squid ink; Chinese sausage; veggie), ramen (cream tonkotsu; shiitake shoyu; five spice duck) and sweets (blueberry yuzu cheesecake; Saigon tiramisu; Pandan tres leches; banana wontons; cookie dough chopsticks) from 11 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings. Class is in session! Koi Fine Asian Cuisine in downtown Evanston will hold a handcrafted cocktail class in their lounge on Thursday, November 9. Halloween Celebration at Artango

Brazilian Carnaval with Costume Contest and More

Artango in Lincoln Square will get into the Halloween “spirit” with a Brazilian Carnaval celebration on Saturday, October 28. From 8-10:30 p.m., a Brazilian jazz trio led by musician Luciano Antonio will perform live Bossa Nova/Samba (no cover). A costume contest will take place at 9 p.m., with prizes for the top three guests ($100 dining gift card for first place; bottle of wine for second place; two glasses of champagne for third place).  
 
In addition to a lengthy list of Latin libations, a special cocktail, La Bruja (the witch) made with rum, ginger liqueur, spices and garnished with grilled orange will be offered for $10. Pair your cocktails with Chef Saul Hernandez’s Argentine menu, featuring small plates (empanadas; ceviche; beef carpaccio; caprese salad), entrees (lamb chops; grilled chicken; house made ravioli), and gaucho-style grilled steaks (prime spiral cut rib-eye; tender filet mignon; prime new york strip; prime center cut aged skirt steak).
